
Dr. Shegufta Mohammad is a seasoned Dental Surgeon from Bangladesh with over 24 years of experience in clinical practice, medical education, and public health. She has served as an Assisstant professor of Dental public health, head of medical education departments, and facilitator of teaching and research methodology courses across various health institutions namely Update dental college, East west nursing institute, IMT etc. She also contributed in BDS curriculum evaluation and as adjunct faculty of CME.
Currently, she is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Mandy Dental College and Vice Chairperson of the Public Health Foundation of Bangladesh. She also contributes as the Associate Editor in chief for South East Asia Journal of Public Health.
Dr. Mohammad’s strong foundation in public health and research was built early in her career through specialized training, including Educational Research Methodology (CME, 1998), Research Methodology for Health Professionals (ICMH, 2001), and both basic and advanced courses in Epidemiology and Biostatistics with SPSS (NIPSOM in collaboration with DFID, 2001–2002). A committed lifelong learner, she later enhanced her expertise by completing certificate courses in Problem-Based Learning (2017) and Assessment (2018) from Maastricht University. She continues to pursue new knowledge with a passion for growth and impact.
During her tenure as Chief Dental Consultant at Pacific International Hospital in Papua New Guinea, Dr. Mohammad played a vital role in providing care and support to asylum seekers in collaboration with POMREF Australia. This experience deepened her commitment to humanitarian work and sparked a lasting passion for the nonprofit sector. A former Chair of the Ranger Council of the Bangladesh Girl Guides (1995), she now continues her lifelong dedication to volunteerism as Secretary of the Geneva Girl Scouts (OCMT).
Currently based in Geneva with her family, she remains actively involved in nonprofit initiatives, including Action for Development and Empower Me First College etc. where she contributes to community-based development and education.
