
Dr. Sharmila Huda, Vice-chairperson, PHFBD, is an accomplished Pharmacologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology, Bangladesh Medical College, with a strong commitment to academic excellence and medical education. She has also served three two-year terms as the treasurer of PHFBD. Dr. Huda has served as a consultant in the development of Standard Treatment Guidelines (STG) for common infectious diseases in Bangladesh, under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), ensured alignment with WHO’s antimicrobial stewardship and AMR containment strategies. She also served as a consultant for COVID-19 IPC and Pharmacovigilance (PV) support in Bangladesh under the USAID (MTaPS) Program. Dr. Huda has repeatedly contributrd as a resource person in training-workshops on the Rational Use of Drugs, supported by UNHCR, which were attended by consultants and medical officers working in Rohingya health camps. She is actively involved in research, particularly in areas related to rational drug use, pharmacovigilance, and public health. Known for her engaging teaching style, she plays a pivotal role in mentoring medical students and fostering critical thinking.
Education: She holds an M.Phil from Bangladesh Medical University (formerly BSMMU). She has also completed a certificate course in Medical Education and another in Research Methodology from BIRDEM, reflecting her dedication to continuous professional development.
